Journey of a mark

When a shopper sees the Vanuatu Made mark, they know something important: the product in their hands was born from island soil, island waters, and island ingenuity. It is not a generic souvenir or an anonymous import. It is the work of a Vanuatu producer — an artisan weaving pandanus mats, a farmer fermenting cocoa, a family distilling oil from tamanu nuts.

The brand began as a government initiative, but it has grown into much more: a community of makers united by pride in their country and confidence in their craft. The Department of Industry set out to lift the visibility of local businesses, and in the process created a symbol that consumers trust.

Each product that carries the mark has passed through a certification process, ensuring that its origin is truly Vanuatu. The initiative has expanded beyond certification to include outlets in Port Vila and Brisbane, and promotional campaigns such as Vanuatu Made Week. Today, over a hundred producers are certified, offering everything from kava beverages to handicrafts and skincare.

Buyers choose Vanuatu Made because they know every sale sustains local livelihoods, keeps traditional skills alive, and encourages sustainable, small-scale production. Vanuatu Made is, in the end, a promise: that what is inside the package carries the authenticity of a nation.

A bustling outdoor produce market
“Vanuatu Made is not just about things; it is about people and place.”

This is where I'm from. This is who I am.

“I'm from Vanuatu, where our people and our land shape everything we do. Our hands carry our ancestral knowledge. Our hearts beat with the islands. Vanuatu Made isn't just about what we do, it's about who we are. It's our story. Our culture. Our way of life.”
